The Other Reason Temu Costs More

You probably know buying from Temu costs more now, and you might also know it has to do with a change in tariffs (removal of the de minimis exemption).

What you might not know is that Temu is recruiting U.S.-based suppliers to its platform to get around these new tariffs. This isn't sneaky. It's basic business.

The good news for you is that U.S. suppliers ship faster to U.S. customers. However, this still means you're paying more versus the previous tariff arrangement.

The same can be said for other marketplaces that relied on the de minimis exemption to get products into the U.S. at ultra-low price points. SHEIN and Aliexpress are couple other examples.

Is this a net positive or negative? It depends on what you're trying to do with Temu, and from what part of the world you're doing it. I chose to sell some of my products on Temu, but not all.
