I literally started The Writer’s Glove in my basement at home. That was 15 months ago, back before this adventure became an actual LLC earlier this year and started behaving like a “real” business. All I had was a hunch, a chilly experience with cold hands while writing on deadline and a single-serve coffee maker that eventually succumbed to the abuse. I knew nothing about gloves other than which end to stick my hand in.
A lot can change in 15 months.
Thanks to feedback from customers in 24 countries around the world, I’m happy to say that the 2.0 version of The Writer’s Glove will debut in late summer 2017. The version currently available will be phased out between now and then.
The 2.0 version of The Writer’s Glove will continue to keep cold hands and fingers warm while typing on a keyboard, but it fulfills a lot of what customers requested. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect:
- I’m adding a size! Extra small to extra large sizes will be available.
- Even warmer silk to keep cold hands comfortable while you type.
- Two options to choose from: a basic and a deluxe version.
- A flexible design that feels even more like a second skin.
- Stronger, more durable silk will keep you typing longer.
- No more sporadic out-of-stock issues! Get what you want when you want it.
Here’s the only sneak peak you’ll get before the official debut:
From that example, there’s yet another big announcement. I’ve trademarked “The Writer’s Glove” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Not only does that mean I had to figure out the keyboard shortcut for special symbols, but I can also write The Writer’s Glove® and legally have it mean something. (Before, I just used it to troll my friends, who were trolling me for incubating this wild glove idea.)
There will be much more to come. If you’d like to ask me about it, I’ll be at the 2017 Writer’s Digest Conference this August in New York City presenting about some new publishing models, which will include the story of The Writer’s Glove®. Yep, I’m a busy guy, with a full-time job in the publishing industry, this glove gig and my writing projects. But I walk the walk, yes sir, unless our toddler is wrapped around my knees.
As always, if you’d like to try The Writer’s Glove® for yourself, I’d be happy to send you out a pair. Just place your order here.
